E-bikes become more and more popular and even a few e-motorbikes are already available on the market.
But an e-bike’s strength (the motor and power unit saving us from breaking into sweat) turn into a dragging weight as soon as the batteries are empty. Many buildings still lack charging infrastructure and it’s not very convenient to regularly unplug the battery, carry it several stories up and power it in your appartment.
For such situations, a “self-sustaining” power unit may come in handy. No, I’m not talking about a two wheeled version of the Ford Nucleon or regenerative breaks, but detachable solar panels which charge your bike when it’s not in use. The panel “wings” are located on the side of the bike and can be unfolded for increased surface area and orientated towards the sun (similar to smartflowers), but already prolong your bike’s range when in the vertical position.

I’m still looking for a catchy name for this project (e.g. a combination of pegasus and something with electricity) so in case you have any ideas (preferably not already commercially used), don’t hesitate to comment.
